The ‘big guns’ were brought out for this club meet; big figures in a 54mm Boxer game, and a big knight unit in a WAB campaign game.
28mm Normans v Bretons – Warhammer Ancient Battles
This was the first game in a mini-campaign being run at the club as part of a WAB resurgence. The campaign will lead up to a final showdown battle at the club’s annual pre-Christmas mega-game.
This was the first campaign game played-out and saw the mighty Normans, with their near unstoppable knights, against a mainly infantry Breton force. The Normans had chosen a single uber-unit of knights that preceded to target the Breton battle-line in an immediate charge. Perhaps predictably the first Breton unit, with attached general and army standard, was quickly sent packing, taking a friendly unit in panic.
The Normans realigned to try and roll-up the Breton line. The Breton’s managed to form a new defence, but the result of the next clash was the same as the first and the Norman knights chewed through the remaining Bretons in a very business-like manner. 1-0 to Willam’s boys.
54mm Boxer Rebellion – Modified Neil Thomas Napoleonic Rules
An absolutely splendid looking game with the Eight-Nation Alliance taking on the Boxer rebels in turn of the 20th century China. Great to see another 54mm game at the club. The game ended in defeat for the Society of Righteous and Harmonious Fists (Boxers) this time.
