Games

We play all sorts of tabletop miniature games. We dabble in historical, pulp, science fiction and fantasy. The games we play change fairly frequently, as we hop from one thing to another, like the hobby butterflies we all are. This page will give you a flavour of some of the things that seem group favourites at the moment.

If you don’t see your favourite genre, period, or scale below, then be assured we’ll try anything; if you can bring a game, then we’ll play it!

Game Format

We typically have 2 or 3 games at each meeting. Most games take the format where one or two people will arrange a scenario, and then bring the terrain and forces to play it. These scenarios will normally have places for multiple other gamers. This means there is normally a command available in a game for who ever turns up.

We have a private IO group we use to arrange games, and this is often still happening on the Friday night before a game day!

Historicals

We have fans of Biblical ancients, and every period after this, all they way through to ultra moderns. The usual favourites, like Napoleonics and WW2, are well represented and we have quite a few fans of the Pike and Shot period as well.

We play a lot of different rules and always seem to be trying new ones. We have a lot of fans of the Black Powder series of rules, as well as Bolt Action and Blitzkrieg Commander. We are always experimenting or modifying rules, and happy to try new things.

Pulp, Sci Fi and Fantasy

As well as having members who follow the big titles, like Warhammer 40k, we also have fans of more obscure games. You never know when a regular investigation of a broken transmitter at an Artic scientific station may reveal a nest of Xenomorphs, or Victorian explorers unearth a Shoggoth in the jungle.

Scales

Figure scales and sizes – we love ‘em all! There always seems to be plenty of 28mm games, and we go all the way down to the micro scales as well.
